Alby Figgs back tomorrow!

albyheader3

This Friday , September the 20th at around tea-time, everyone’s favourite 70 something amateur natterer, Alby Figgs, returns for brand new adventures in psych-babble street philosophy and elasticated truth stretching. After this season 2 opener, there’ll be a new monthly schedule, every first Friday from October, expanded stripage (two tiers–good), full colour colouring in and a brand new wooly jumper.

All this at the ridiculous cost of no pence to you. Keep your browsing fingers and thumbs hovering over this link http://albyfiggs.wordpress.com/ till then!

Post Edinburgh post

Here’s a link to a short piece I wrote for the Cape Graphic Novels Tumblr page about my recent very enjoyable experience being a guest at this year’s Stripped festival, part of The Edinburgh Book Festival, plus a photo of some shady characters masquerading as 2000AD contributors. That’s water by way, for the re-hydration purposes.

Stripped: Edinburgh Book Festival interview

mt

Ahead of my appearance at Stripped, part of the Edinburgh Book Festival tomorrow, Friday the 23rd here’s a link to a recent interview now up on their website, talking about Montague Terrace, The Great Unwashed, Velocity, Darren Shan’s Zom-B books and much much more.

Just to recap, I’ll be holding a Zom-B drawing workshop from 18.30 and sharing a panel with Roger Gibson from 20.30 on Friday, talking about Montague Terrace. Then on the Sunday I’ll be sharing the stage with David Bishop, Dan Abnett and Robbie Morrison talking about 2000AD at 15.00.

Tickets are now on sale for this August’s Stripped Festival, part of the Edinburgh Book Festival which runs from 10-26th August. I’m hosting a Zom-B drawing workshop from 18.30-19.30 on Friday the 23rd giving tips and tricks to budding artists on drawing zombies and the living dead (well, I just have to look in the mirror most days, but you kids might need some insiders knowledge) and talking about Montague Terrace later that evening from 20.30-21.30, where I’ll be sharing the stage with Roger Gibson, author of the Harker book series.

Then on the Sunday at 15.00, I’ll be joining a panel along with Dan Abnett to discuss the past, present and future of 2000AD.

There’s a whole host of amazing talent taking part throughout the festival. To find out more and book tickets in advance, check out the Edinburgh Book Festival site.

Darren Shan’s Zom-B Angels

Here’s some of the interior illustrations I drew for the latest Darren Shan Zom-B book, Zom-B Angels, recently published in the UK and Ireland by Simon & Shuster and coming out on July 9th in the US and beyond. I thought I’d also include an example of a rough pencilled version next to the final inked one to give you that extra ‘spesh’ behind the scenes tour. Brains anyone?!

Pleece Brothers at Cartoon County Tonight!

mt

For our legion(s) of fan(s), exciting news! Me and baby Bro, Gary, will be discussing our new(ish) graphic novel, Montague Terrace live, in person, this Monday 3rd June with Resonance FM‘s own Alex Fitch at this Monday’s Cartoon County meeting, upstairs at the Cricketers Pub in the heart of Brighton’s Laines, 7.30 p.m. onwards.

These meetings are legend amongst the South Coast’s comics community, often a hotbed of discussion, anecdotes and rare glimpses of original art from some of the best practitioners in the biz. For some reason, Comics, sorry, sequential art legend David Lloyd and Myriad Books own Corinne Pearlman have seen fit to invite us Pleeces back after our last notorious outing in the Greene Room.

We’ll be talking Monty T, The Great (unseen?) Unwashed and all about current, future and past stuff, surrounded by bonhomie and quaintly cut sandwiches washed down with beer.

Pleece ID Parade at Comica’s Comiket Today!

comiket

We’re taking part in this Saturday’s Comica Comiket at Central St. Martins this Saturday 20th along with a host of comicy talent, stalls and events. Warren’s taking part in the drawing parade, live scribbling to music and we’ll be signing copies of Montague Terrace at the Cape table. It should also be an opportunity to get your hands on a signed copy of our other book of greatest hits, The Great Unseen, I mean The Great Unwashed. A rare and precious moment!

Pleece Brothers signing Montague Terrace at Forbidden Planet tomorrow!

Montague Terrace_Montague Terrace

I’ll be signing copies of Montague Terrace with Gary tomorrow evening, Friday 12th at the Forbidden Planet Megastore, 179 Shaftesbury Avenue, London WC2H 8JR from 6-7 p.m.

Come and get your own personal defacement! Oh, and we’ll sign your book too…
