Jonathan Cape

Post Edinburgh post

Here’s a link to a short piece I wrote for the Cape Graphic Novels Tumblr page about my recent very enjoyable experience being a guest at this year’s Stripped festival, part of The Edinburgh Book Festival, plus a photo of some shady characters masquerading as 2000AD contributors. That’s water by way, for the re-hydration purposes.

Pleece Brothers at Cartoon County Tonight!

mt

For our legion(s) of fan(s), exciting news! Me and baby Bro, Gary, will be discussing our new(ish) graphic novel, Montague Terrace live, in person, this Monday 3rd June with Resonance FM‘s own Alex Fitch at this Monday’s Cartoon County meeting, upstairs at the Cricketers Pub in the heart of Brighton’s Laines, 7.30 p.m. onwards.

These meetings are legend amongst the South Coast’s comics community, often a hotbed of discussion, anecdotes and rare glimpses of original art from some of the best practitioners in the biz. For some reason, Comics, sorry, sequential art legend David Lloyd and Myriad Books own Corinne Pearlman have seen fit to invite us Pleeces back after our last notorious outing in the Greene Room.

We’ll be talking Monty T, The Great (unseen?) Unwashed and all about current, future and past stuff, surrounded by bonhomie and quaintly cut sandwiches washed down with beer.

Recently highlighted as graphic novel of the month by The Observer, you can now order the book online via Jonathan Cape or through Amazon, or even better buy it personally through one of the many excellent comic shops and book shops throughout the nation. Today, April 4th, we’ll be signing and scrawling on copies at Dave’s Comics, Brighton from 6-8 p.m. and then at the Forbidden Planet Megastore, Shaftesbury Avenue, London on Friday the 12th of April, 6-7 p.m. You can also get signed copies from Gosh in London from the 12th onwards.

On top of all this, we’ve launched a new website dedicated to all things Montague Terrace. There’s more info about the book and in the weeks to come we’ll be posting up behind the scenes artwork and new exclusive one-offs!

To coincide with the publication day of our new graphic novel, Montague Terrace, me and brother Gary will be signing and launching off, Viking-stylee, at the brilliant Dave’s Comics, 5 Sydney St, Brighton BN1 4EN on Thursday the 4th of April from 6-8pm.

Come one and all and delve through the lace curtained cover to discover a world of magic bunnies, nervous magicians, third-rate 60s pop-crooners, Special Ops OAPS and much, much more. What’s more (I told you there was more), each copy bought on the night will be specially defaced by a special limited edition of one doodle-scrawl!

Expect the usual enlightened (?) back-chat from the Pleece’s, original artwork on display, cosy-toed ambience and an endless supply of Ki-ora or other similarly refreshing refreshmentation.

Come on in!

The Great Unwashed @ Helsinki Comics Festival

Apologies to the ‘fan’ for not posting for bloody ages, but that was mostly down to a very busy period of trying to finish the forthcoming Montague Terrace book for Jonathan Cape, out next year, and contributing to the new Pleece Brothers anthology, The Great Unwashed, coming out very soon from Paul Gravett and Peter Stanbury’s Escape Books.

As a precursor to that, I’ve been invited to the Helsinki Comics Festival this weekend, 16-18th September where I’ll be doing some signings and giving a talk entitled ‘Self-Publish and be Damned, or How not to make it in Comics’, covering the early Velocity years, so, hopefully not too po-faced, through to the latest web publishing ventures.

Tons more stuff to come soon, so watch this space.

You know who you are. Do I?!
